Cause and Effect Torkos kneeled down by the wounded Arakod and proceeded to cut away at the torn membrane on his crest that was beyond saving. The big dragon dwarfed him, but Arakod’s deadly presence was lessened by the fact that he had been laid low. A severe skull fracture had turned into heavy swelling of skin along his muzzle, scales falling off the bruised flesh. Blood dripped freely from his muzzle where several teeth were broken or had fallen out, his mouth a mess of scratches. Coagulated vital fluids clogged up his nostrils and ears for both eardrums had burst, and a large portion of his hide was scorched black. Not even the naturally occurring runes along his body had escaped suffering, for they were puckered around the edges from the amount of energy Arakod had used. Torkos also suspected of a concussion from the blow to the head that incapacitated the big dragon.
